Anne Lockhart, born Anne Kathleen Maloney in September 1953, is an American actor from America. She is best known for her character of Lieutenant Sheba in the Battlestar Galactica television series (1978-1979). She's the daughter and granddaughter of actors Gene Lockhart. Lockhart's professional career started very young. At age 4, Lockhart starred as T is for Tumbleweed. This short subject film was nominated for an academy award. The actress learned to manage the company with her mother during the shoot. Lockhart played in numerous episodes of Lassie. The first film she appeared in was Dora in Jory in 1972. She was 18 when she portrayed the daughter of Joan Crawford in 1972 television show The Sixth Sense. Joan acted in this episode for her last time. It is a popular belief that Anne did not want to play Laurie Strode for John Carpenter's Halloween in 1978. Jaime Lee Curtis was cast in its place. Carpenter says they were interested in her however she decided to decline. Anne does not remember being being contacted with the name of John Carpenter nor being offered the position. It's possible that an agent turned it down on her behalf without telling the actress. Glen Larson sent her an preliminary draft of script that she was to use as an actor in the 1978 television show Battlestar Galactica. At first, she turned down the character because it seemed too weak. Then Glen made a different part just for her with the character that was stronger, Sheba. The Living Legend's initial 25-page script was read to Sheba and she was immediately in agreement. The film ran for one season. She appeared in Joyride (1977), a movie which she co-starred and acted in alongside Desi Arnaz Jr. Melanie Griffith, Robert Carradine.
